Jurjen Jobse wins prize for research into fatigue in shipping

Jurjen Jobse, employee of Praxis Automation Technology B.V., studied Maritime Officer at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam. During one of his traineeships at Maersk he studied the fatigue phenomenon, a form of fatigue caused by excessive exertion. The resulting concentration problems are dangerous for safety and navigation on board ships.

With the award, the Verolme Trust Foundation, founded by shipbuilder Cornelis Verolme, wants to contribute to the maintenance and strengthening of maritime education in the Netherlands. Verolme lives on in the name of the Verolme dock near Rozenburg. He built the largest dry dock in the Netherlands, which is now owned by Damen.
The award ceremony was held this afternoon November 2018 at the Maritime Museum in Rotterdam.
