Upgraded DP System Brings New Capabilities to De Waddenstroom
Published on 28 February 2025
At Praxis Automation, we’re proud to see more and more vessels operating with our Dynamic Positioning (DP) technology. One recent highlight is the upgrade of De Waddenstroom, a multifunctional shallow-draft vessel from Van Wijngaarden Marine Services.
Already equipped with a Praxis DP2 system, De Waddenstroom was recently fitted with an extra tunnel thruster to boost its maneuverability during demanding operations. Our team adapted and extended the existing DP setup to fully integrate the new thruster, demonstrating how easily the system scales with evolving vessel needs.
This wasn’t just a technical success, but also the result of great teamwork. Together with Van Wijngaarden and Maritiem Electro Zeeland, the project was executed smoothly from start to finish. We’re grateful for the trust, collaboration, and hands-on approach that made it all come together so well.
As demand for precise station-keeping continues to grow, especially in dredging, survey, and nearshore support, De Waddenstroom is now even better equipped to handle whatever comes her way. We look forward to supporting more projects like this and continuing our strong partnership with Van Wijngaarden and Maritiem Electro Zeeland.
